I see two possible solutions: i) cathechism; ii) shepherds' example. St John Mary Vianney's words related to the good or bad parish priest are clear. And if one does not accept that, we should rely to the sad reality of a very fearful and not fully faithful high clergy and part of the priests. The only thing we need is to have holy priests and holy lay people. The rest is words. Like my sad words. But my trust is in God. Jesu, Tibi confidere! God bless you, Father Andrew!

One should avoid to get the Holy Communion from an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist. Related to the other point you raised, every faithful is called to witness Our Lord Jesus Christ in the world. Cultural background, such a sentimental and purely personal faith, and secularism help to explain the story you mentioned us. And I see the potential, sometimes very real, cost in witnessing our faith. However, if we do not acknowledge Our Lord, he will not aknowledge us with the Eternal Father.

Dear Reverend Father Andrew, thank you for the new episode and the heartfelt homily. Unfortunately the fact that lay people do not want to fulfil their tasks but others' tasks is widespread across many countries. I think that the issue is in both the parts. Priesthood has been attacked and it is not over yet. The introduction of the two types of extraordinary ministers is part of the troubles. I will write what you may be afraid to state. It was a big error. Their hands are not consacrated.
